The Department of Bachelor of Vocation (B.Voc.) in Software Development at Nar Bahadur Bhandari Government College (NBBGC) is committed to providing quality, skill-oriented education that bridges the gap between academic learning and industry requirements. The programme is designed in accordance with the National Skills Qualifications Framework (NSQF), integrating theoretical knowledge with practical training to develop competent software professionals.

The department offers a learner-centric environment where students gain hands-on experience in programming, database management, web and mobile application development, software testing, and emerging technologies through laboratory sessions, projects, internships, workshops, and industry interactions.

Preamble

The B.Voc in Software Development is a three-year undergraduate programme. It has been formulated with the guidelines of the National Skills Qualifications Framework (NSQF) 2023 as well as those laid down by the National Council for Vocational Education and Training (NCVET) 2023, which has been implemented as per the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The programme is designed to fulfil the growing need for educational programs that provide an opportunity to combine general education with vocational training for a broad-based development of theoretical knowledge and practical skills through its 60:40 skill/lab courses and general subjects in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

Programme Outcomes (POs)

As per the National Higher Education Qualifications Framework (NHEQF) 2023, graduates of the Bachelor of Vocation (B.Voc) in Software Development will demonstrate several key attributes, beginning with the ability to apply foundational knowledge in mathematics, computer science, and programming to develop effective software solutions. They will be equipped to identify, research, and analyze complex computing problems to reach substantiated conclusions, supported by strong critical thinking skills for evaluating evidence and making reasoned judgments. Graduates will approach challenges with creativity, innovation, and lateral thinking, while effectively communicating complex ideas across varied audiences. Furthermore, they will apply ethical methodologies in research and data analysis, functioning effectively both as individuals and as leaders within diverse, multidisciplinary teams. Their readiness to lead and inspire will be complemented by their proficiency in selecting and utilizing modern software tools to tackle complex computing tasks. This hands-on approach to current industry practices will significantly enhance their employability and competitive edge. Finally, graduates will act as responsible computing professionals by applying contextual reasoning to societal, ethical, legal, and cultural issues, while demonstrating empathy and emotional intelligence through an ability to understand and respect others.

Programme Specific Outcomes (PSOs)

The Programme Specific Outcomes (PSOs) reflect the intended development of subject-specific expertise and broad professional competencies cultivated throughout the programme. By the conclusion of the programme, learners will be able to analyze key concepts in computer science and software development, integrating interdisciplinary perspectives to solve real-world problems. They will be skilled in designing, developing, and evaluating software solutions using appropriate methodologies, programming languages, and industry best practices. Additionally, graduates will implement data-driven solutions by applying data analysis, machine learning algorithms, and statistical methods to extract insights and support decision-making. Their technical expertise will extend to network and systems proficiency, ensuring the security, reliability, and optimization of IT infrastructure. They will possess strong communication skills, allowing them to clearly convey complex technical subject matter to both technical and non-technical audiences in oral and written forms. Furthermore, they will apply software engineering and project management principles to execute projects efficiently within time, budget, and quality constraints. This technical acumen will be guided by a commitment to ethical and professional practices that adhere to legal and safety standards while considering the social and environmental impacts of technology.
