1. Understand the concept and importance of entrepreneurship.
2. Understand the objective of different institutions and support for growth of entrepreneurs.
3. Understand fundamental government policies and support for entrepreneurs.
4. Understand the basic legal, regulation and policies of entrepreneurship development programmes.

Course Outline

Unit I: Concepts of Entrepreneur and Entrepreneurship

Definitions, classification, characteristics of entrepreneur, entrepreneurship and enterprise. Entrepreneurial traits, functions and importance of entrepreneurs in society. Empowering women entrepreneurs: development and challenges. Entrepreneurial Development Programmes: objectives, methods of training, phases of EDP.

Unit II: Institutional Support and Incentives to Entrepreneurs

Government schemes and support: Start-Up India, MSME support. Role and objective of SIDBI, NABARD, KVIC, NSIC, DIC, SIDCO. Incubators and accelerators.

Unit III: Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises

Definition, features, objectives and importance. Role of MSME in economic development, MSME Act 2006, salient features and credit system of MSME, industrial estates and classification. Sickness: causes, remedies. Registration of SSI, single window system and registration process.

Unit IV: Entrepreneurial Project Planning and Industrial Setup

Setting up of industrial unit: government regulations for project clearance, legal support and regulatory considerations. Identifying and evaluating business opportunities, market research basics. Feasibility study: environment study, technical study, financial study, market study and social study.
